Workplace Issues

Women in law enforcement often contact us about issues involving discrimination in their jobs. These are difficult issues to handle, especially within a law enforcement setting. We are not able to give individuals legal advice or refer lawyers. However, the information provided below is to help you analyze your options, it is not intended to be legal advice.

Local, state and federal employment laws protect employees from discrimination and harassment. Because of the variety of what state and local laws cover, we will address only federal law here. Federal law provides the floor of protection: you can't have less than this, and, depending on where you live, you may have more.

If you are confronted with problems of sexual discrimination or harassment, you have several options of how to handle it.
